How Quilt Crowd Funding started

In 2021, during the height of the Covid pandemic, Calgary Respirologist Dr. Mike Braganza diagnosed a patient with asthma. He prescribed medications, but they were too expensive; the prescription was never filled. Instead of getting the treatment required, the patient ended up in the hospital with an asthma exacerbation.

Dr. Braganza found Darren, a software engineer, who was passionate about the project. Together, they spent 2 years developing and testing a new concept: a micro-crowdfunding platform where donors are protected and local business is supported transparently. Campaigns are started by people in need for specific services. Funds go directly to the local business who provides these services, or money is refunded to the donor.

Quilt crowd funding is building a community where donors can help community members get awesome services from local businesses.
